Apple TV+’s Dark Matter Unravels Realities in this Multiverse Mystery

1–2 minutes

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Apple TV+ has hit the ground running with its latest sci-fi series, Dark Matter, based on Blake Crouch’s novel of the same name. With Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, and Alice Braga leading the cast, the show has generated significant buzz, both among those familiar with the book and those who are diving into this multiverse tale for the first time. For those unfamiliar with the storyline, Dark Matter revolves around an astrophysics professor who finds himself abruptly torn from his idyllic life with his family, only to awaken in a reality where everything has drastically changed.

Having attempted to tackle the book but found it a slog, I was pleasantly surprised by the series’ dynamic approach. Apple TV+ has skilfully condensed the slower parts of the book, delivering a fast-paced and engaging viewing experience. Rather than meandering through exposition, the show thrusts viewers headfirst into a world where reality is anything but singular, keeping them on the edge of their seats from start to finish. From the get-go, the show cultivates an atmosphere of tension, compelling viewers to immerse themselves fully in this ever-shifting landscape.

After just two episodes, it’s evident that the adaptation has taken a few creative liberties. While some purists may raise eyebrows at deviations from the source material, it’s evident that these liberties serve to enhance the viewing experience rather than detract from it. Notably, Blake Crouch’s involvement as an executive producer adds authenticity to the adaptation, ensuring that the essence of the original work remains intact while allowing room for innovation.

Having only scratched the surface with the first two episodes, I’m eager to see where Dark Matter will take us next. With its blend of mystery, suspense, and intriguing characters, Dark Matter on Apple TV+ is shaping up to be a must-watch for sci-fi fans. With Dark Matter in its portfolio, Apple TV+ has delivered another series in the sci-fi genre that promises to keep audiences hooked with each new episode.
